Our Media, Not Theirs is a one day pre-conference event to be held in Barcelona on Saturday, July 20 2002, as part of the IAMCR 2002. The session is supported by the Community Communication Section of IAMCR, the Faculty of Communication of the University Ramon Llull, the Institut de la Comunicació (InCom-UAB), and the Ford Foundation.

The event will take place at University Ramon Llull, hosted by the Faculty of Communication.

The pre-conference is planned as a follow-up to the successful pre-conference entitled Our Media, Not Theirs held at the annual ICA conference in Washington DC in May 2001, organized by John Downing and Clemencia Rodriguez.

The event will involve alternative media practitioners and researchers from all over the world. The day will have four panels, each with 4-5 speakers.

The session will involve presentations on current developments as well as discussions on building an effective global network for people involve in alternative media and ways of improving exchange of information.

The discussions will be based on circulated papers, w
hich will be available in advance to maximize the time for discussion.

Full details of the participant list and programme will be posted on this site. Copies of the papers to be presented will be posted on this site in mid June 2002, so that you may access them in advance of the conference.
