party "Revetlla" of the Conference
Day: Tuesday, 23 July 2002
Time: 20.30-23.00
Organised by: Conference Organising Committee
With the support of: Freixenet
In Catalonia, as in the Mediterranean in general, summer is a
time for organising festivals in the streets and "plazas".
As well as complying with their rituals, these festivals provide
opportunities to chat, dance, eat and drink.
In these Catalan "verbenas" (festivals), it is customary
to eat "coques", a type of collective cake, cut into
slices, which can be sweet or savoury. It is also customary to
drink cava, a sparkling wine associated with parties that is never
drank without first making a toast ("salut!").
All of the conference participants are invited to this "verbena",
where there will be the chance to "communicate informally",
as well as to eat "coques", drink cava, dance and listen
to music by the famous group La Vella Dixieland.
